Freda is a beautiful Jura hound who is about three years old.
When she was found in August 2016 she was supposed to be at least 16 kilos – instead she weighed only 9.
The 2nd Chance for Life organisation who are caring for her have never seen a dog in worse condition – that was still alive!
Freda is one of the 20 dogs that a farmer kept in his farm in the Larnaca Area. Mr Andreas is a good old man that loves animals and tries his best for them, but unfortunately he hasn’t had the financial resources to give them what they need. The people in his area know his love for the dogs so they keep dumping their unwanted animals next to his farm – and Mr Andreas keeps taking them in.
Even though 2nd Chance for Life’s rescue centre was at full capacity, when they saw Freda they knew they couldn’t let her stay with Mr Andreas anymore as she wouldn’t survive.
Over the last few months, Freda has made a fantastic recovery, gained weight and returned to a good level of health, though it has just been discovered that she has Leishmania. This is a lifelong condition that will require medication – though the pills are very affordable and the condition does not affect her ability to live a long, full and active life or to be a loving pet.
If you can give Freda a loving home, please get in touch.
